Program description: The department of Animal Biotechnology offers Bachelor's of Science degrees in Animal Biotechnology and Animal Science. Animal Biotechnology provides practical training in molecular and biochemical techniques with emphasis on animals. The Animal Science major emphasizes livestock management, biotechnology, and range livestock operations. Majoring in Animal Science provides students with the knowledge required to meet the challenge of the rapidly changing livestock industries in the Western United States. The Animal Science curriculum is designed to give students a foundation in the basic sciences and fundamental training in the various phases of the livestock food and fiber industries as well as the horse and companion animal aspect of animal agriculture.
