2009 Tahoe Summit: Report Available

The annual Tahoe Summit will take place on Thursday, August 20, 2009.

In conjunction with the event, the University of Nevada, Reno and DRI have prepared a report highlighting their collective research and outreach efforts in the Tahoe Basin. This report, Tahoe: A Legacy of Research, Education & Outreach is available for download.

Call for Abstracts: 2010 Tahoe Basin Science Conference

The call for abstracts for the 2010 Tahoe Basin Science Conference is now available.  Please visit http://tahoescience.org/tsc_science_events/Conference.aspx for more information.  All abstracts and proposals must be received by the deadline – Tuesday, December 1, 2009.

NSF EPSCoR: Climate Change Graduate Fellowships Available

NSHE seeks to award funding for Graduate Fellowships for students to conduct interdisciplinary research in climate change. Successful Graduate Fellows will receive $25,000 for Ph.D. or $23,000 for M.S./M.A. Funding will be available through Nevada's NSF EPSCoR Climate Change Research Infrastructure Improvement (RII) program.

Stormwater Tools Symposium: November 10, 2009

Over the past several years, significant resources have been invested to develop a suite of new stormwater planning and program management tools to support Lake Tahoe stormwater managers in their planning, implementation and ongoing maintenance activities. The Tahoe Stormwater Tools Symposium will introduce this new suite of tools to potential users

Symposium Date: November 10, 2009; 9:00am - 4:30pm Location: Chateau, Incline Village 955 Fairway Blvd, Incline Village, NV 8945
Participants: Stormwater Program Managers, Municipal and Consultant Design Engineers, Municipal and Department of Transportation Management, Funding Agency Management and Grant Managers, Maintenance Managers, Project Reviewers

Please reserve Tuesday, November 10th for you and your staff who wish to attend this one-day event. The event will include a lunchtime keynote address from Allen Biaggi, Director of the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Lunch will be provided.

Student World Water Forum: November 19-20, 2009

The SWWF is a student-organized event that will feature oral presentations from UNR students on water-related issues. It will simulate an international conference similar to the World Water Forums held in Kyoto, The Hague, Mexico City, and most recently in Istanbul in March 2009. This year the Forum will feature a keynote presentation by Dr. Paula Garb of the University of California Irvine on November 20 at 4 p.m. entitled: "The Role of Citizen Peacebuilding in Violent Conflicts: The Case of the Inguri Hydro Power Complex and the Georgian-Abkhaz Conflict." The SWWF will be held at University of Nevada Reno on November 19-20, 2009 in the J. Crowley Student Union Room 320

Save the Date! March 16-17, 2010

5th Biennial Lake Tahoe Basin Science Conference

Mark your calendars for the 5th Biennial Conference to learn about the progress made in understanding the Lake Tahoe Basin environment.  This two-day event (March 16-17, 2010) will be held at the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences in Incline Village, Nevada. 

The purpose of this two-day conference is to provide an open forum in which individuals involved in the science and management of the Basin can learn about and discuss the latest relevant science and information.  A "Call for Abstracts" will be distributed on October 15, 2009.  Interested parties will have the opportunity to provide either oral or poster presentations.
